Happy Independence Day!!!!! Independence, to the young India

Independence-Day Youth

India is said to be one of the youngest country in the world. On this Independence Day, what really young India think about Independence? Are the youth of India truly independent? The answer will be yes, of course! But the fact is we are independent as a nation, but as citizens, as people, we are still slaves, slaves to religious beliefs, slaves to the age-old caste system, slaves to money, slaves to those in power, slaves to our daily habits, and finally slaves of our desires. To be independent in the real sense of the word means being able to do what you want to do and not what you have to do…..even today a inter-caste marriage is looked down upon, even today those in power exploit the citizens and everyone who has money wants to get richer, and people who do not die in poverty……how can a nation be independent when its citizens are still discriminated on the basis of caste, religion etc. Are we Independent if we not aware about our basic needs duties that makes us responsible citizen.

For some, Independence is not only the sense of belonging, but a sense of contribution and existence in every step that our nation takes, Independence of our nation is not what we feel, but what we make of it and most importantly, independence is not about rights, but our duties towards the nation”.

But are you ready to change ourselves and our daily habits, and make India feel proud of us being the citizen of this country. We keep on wondering what can be our contribution, that makes us responsible citizen, but the question ends up without concrete answer.

Let’s answer to this question. This is what Independence Day would mean to us, when every citizen of India is just considered a citizen of India, when every profession, caste and religion gets equal respect, when we all are aware about our duties and right. That is when we would be able to call ourselves Independent. These sound like ideal dreams, but it is very much possible if the young India join hands together and fight all the menace of society, which includes classism, castism, colorism, drug use, discrimination, oppression, domestic violence, child abuse, and many more….:)
